Bradford Dementia Group hosts Seminars in contemporary topics delivered by national and international speakers, and Study Days which are designed to foster deeper understanding on contemporary topics in dementia care. Attendance at these events can be used to fulfill the requirements of our Elective Studies module.
These events all take place in the UK.

STUDY DAYS
Study Days are led by experts in the field, including members of the Bradford Dementia Group, and participants will receive a list of readings and relevant resources and a Certificate of Attendance. Study Days cost £70 to attend, including lunch and refreshments, and are limited to 20 participants.
ELECTIVE STUDIES MODULE
This new module offered by Bradford Dementia Group is particularly appropriate if any of the following apply to you:
• You would like to follow up an area of personal interest related to dementia care by studying independently with personal tutor support • You are interested in applying evidence-based practice in your own workplace • You already keep – or would like to develop – a continuing professional development portfolio
The module which can be studied as open or distance learning carries 20 credits at Level 2, 3 or Masters and requires you to provide evidence of continuing professional development in the form of a portfolio detailing attendance at events related to research or practice development in the field of dementia care, for example conferences, seminars, study days, workshops, research presentations, in-house training events and non-accredited short courses.
These events should total in the region of 20 hours contact time and have been attended since January 2005. You can use any of the seminars and study days provided by Bradford Dementia Group to contribute to the 20 hours attendance. You will have personal tutor support throughout the module from a member of the Dementia Studies course team, who will help you to select a subject area based on one or more of the events you have attended and complete your assignments. Your work for the module will be assessed as follows:
Level 2: i) Poster or Powerpoint presentation ii) 2000 word written assignment
Level 3: 3000 word written assignment
Level M: 4000 word reflective assignment
MODULE DATES:
You can start the module at any time, and will have up to 12 months to complete it.
